DataVantage Global Software Receives SAFETY Act Designation

Direct Computer Resources, Inc., a leading provider of scalable, multi-tier, enterprise-wide software solutions that implement and support the obfuscation and secure sharing of sensitive information, has received SAFETY (Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology) Act designation of its DataVantage Global® software from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

SAFETY Act designation of the DataVantage Global® software technology as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology reduces the risk of liability of customers who deploy the software for claims arising out of terrorist acts in lawsuits brought against them or their contractors or downstream users when the software has been deployed in defense against, response to or recovery from such acts where the claims may result in economic loss.

By using designated technologies such as DataVantage Global® to reduce their liability exposure, customers may also benefit from the greater availability of terrorism risk insurance coverage and the reduced cost of obtaining the coverage.

Enacted in 2002 as part of the Homeland Security Act (Pub. L. No. 107-296) to encourage the development of new and innovative technologies aimed at reducing the risk of terrorist acts, the SAFETY Act provides for a series of liability protections to sellers of qualified anti-terrorism technologies and their customers who use these technologies if the sellers’ products or services are found by the Secretary of Homeland Security to be effective in preventing, detecting, deterring or reducing the risk of terrorist acts or mitigating losses from these acts.
