Direct Computer Resources, Inc., Outlines Cyber Security Policy Implementation at National Press Club, White House Meetings

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 30, 2009) — In the company of Internet Security Alliance (ISA) Board Members, Direct Computer Resources President and CEO Joseph Buonomo detailed how the Obama Administration can best implement comprehensive policies to create a sustained system of cyber security during a news conference at the National Press Club on December 3 and in meetings with senior White House staff; Yvette Clarke (D-NY), the Chair of the House of Representatives Cyber Security Committee; and Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), the ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Buonomo lead a delegation of ISA Board members in Washington, D.C. following the release of a fundamental security-related report entitled, “Implementing the Obama Cyber Policy via the ISA Social Contract,” which details how the nation can better prepare itself to resist, defend and recover from cyber attacks by following up on ideas endorsed in the president’s report.

The multi-functional, multi-industry delegation, all ISA Board members, met in Washington, D.C. following the release of a fundamental security-related report entitled, “Implementing the Obama Cyber Policy via the ISA Social Contract,” which details how the nation can better prepare itself to resist, defend and recover from cyber attacks by following up on ideas endorsed in the president’s report.

President Obama released the original Cyber Space Policy Review in May 2009 which calculated that more than $1 trillion was lost to cyber attacks last year.

Chapters in the ISA report address issues such as securing the IT supply chain, enhancing information sharing between industry and government, enterprise education, international cyber issues and the development of automated and standardized security standards for emerging technologies such as Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP).

“Cyber security is as much a strategic and economic issue as it is a technical and operational issue,” said Buonomo. “Since the private sector is on the front lines of the ongoing cyber wars it is critical that we develop products which can mitigate cyber risk through private-public partnerships that will enable the implementation of well-researched and effective standards, practices and technologies.”
